Troubleshooting
Common problems and fixes
A Link Is Not Redirecting to the Target URL
If a short link is not sending visitors to its Target URL, check the link status, licence state, advanced rules, and fallback settings.
A Link Redirects to the Deactivated Page
If a link redirects to the deactivated page, GoshLinks has decided that the link should not currently send visitors to its Target URL.
A Scheduled Link Is Not Active Yet
Scheduled links are controlled by the Pro Start Date & Time field.
An Expired Link Is No Longer Working
Expired links are controlled by the Pro End Date & Time and Expiry Action fields.
Click Counts Are Not Updating
If click counts are not changing, check the tracking settings and make sure the short link is actually being visited.
Export Downloads a Blank Page or Browser Error
If export opens a blank page or the browser shows an invalid response error, the server may have failed while generating the export file.
Import Fails with Invalid JSON
If an import fails with an invalid JSON message, the uploaded file may not be a valid GoshLinks export file, or the server may have returned an HTML error page instead of JSON.
Licence Is Active But Pro Features Are Not Showing
If your licence looks active but Pro features are not showing, check whether the site is authorised and whether the Pro plugin is active.
My Short Link Shows "URL Not Found"
If a short link shows a server-level "URL Not Found" message, WordPress may not be routing the request to GoshLinks.
Slug Is Not Available
Each GoshLinks slug must be unique. If a slug is not available, another link already uses it or the value cannot be used.
Stats Charts Are Empty or Missing Data
Stats charts depend on detailed click tracking data. If charts are empty, the link may not have detailed records for the selected date range.
Target URL Is Marked Invalid
GoshLinks requires valid URLs before a link can be saved.
Views or Stats Are Not Updating
If Views or stats are not changing, check the tracking settings and make sure the short link is actually being handled by GoshLinks.
WordPress Shows a Critical Error After Updating
A WordPress critical error usually means PHP encountered a fatal error while loading the plugin or running a feature.
YOURLS Exporter Plugin Does Not Download a File
The GoshLinks YOURLS exporter plugin should download a JSON file that can be imported into GoshLinks.
YOURLS Shows "This page isn't working" on Activating the GoshLinks Plugin
Some versions of YOURLS show a "This page isn't working" error after activating or deactivating a plugin.
