Slug Is Not Available

Learn why a slug may be unavailable and how to choose a valid unique slug.

Slug Is Not Available

Each GoshLinks slug must be unique. If a slug is not available, another link already uses it or the value cannot be used.

Check Existing Links

Go to GoshLinks > All Links and search for the slug.

If a link already uses that slug, choose a different slug or edit the existing link.

Check for Hidden Advanced Links

If you previously used Pro and then moved to Free, an advanced link may still exist with that slug even if it is not available in your current plan view.

In that case, the slug is still reserved and cannot be reused.

Use Valid Slug Characters

Use letters, numbers, and hyphens. Avoid spaces and special characters.

Good examples:

  • summer-sale
  • newsletter
  • course-bonus

Wait for the Availability Check

The Add/Edit page checks slug availability as you type. The indicator appears after there is content in the field.

  • A green tick means the slug is available.
  • A red cross means it cannot be used.

How To Fix It

  • Choose a different slug.
  • Edit or delete the existing link using that slug.
  • Reactivate Pro if the slug belongs to a hidden advanced link that you need to manage.
