Setting a Deactivated URL for a Link

Choose where visitors should be sent when a specific link is inactive, scheduled, or expired.

Setting a Deactivated URL for a Link

A Deactivated URL is a GoshLinks Pro feature. It lets you choose a custom destination for a link when that link is inactive.

When the Deactivated URL Is Used

Visitors are sent to the Deactivated URL when the link is:

  • Manually deactivated.
  • Not yet active because it has a future Start Date.
  • Expired with Deactivate Link selected as the Expiry Action.

How To Set a Deactivated URL

  1. Create or edit a link.
  2. Open Advanced Options.
  3. Enter a valid http or https URL in the Deactivated URL field.
  4. Save the link.

Validation

The Deactivated URL is optional. If you enter one, it must be a valid URL.

If the URL is invalid, GoshLinks shows a red cross and prevents the link from being saved until the URL is fixed or removed.

Examples

  • A regular sales page after a discount campaign ends.
  • An offer-expired page.
  • A waiting list page before a campaign starts.
  • A support page explaining that the link is no longer active.

Fallback Behavior

If no Deactivated URL is set, GoshLinks uses the Default Deactivated Redirect Page from Settings > Default Pages. If that setting is empty, visitors are sent to the site home page.
