A Link Is Not Redirecting to the Target URL

Work through the most common causes when a link exists but does not redirect as expected.

A Link Is Not Redirecting to the Target URL

If a short link is not sending visitors to its Target URL, check the link status, licence state, advanced rules, and fallback settings.

Check the Link Status

Go to GoshLinks > All Links and confirm the link is active.

If the Status switch is off, the link will not redirect to the Target URL.

Check the Target URL

Edit the link and confirm the Target URL is valid and still exists.

GoshLinks requires a valid http or https URL.

Check Pro Scheduling Rules

If the link uses Advanced Options in Pro, check:

  • Start Date - If it is in the future, the link is scheduled and will not send visitors to the Target URL yet.
  • Expiry Date - If it is in the past, the link may be expired.
  • Expiry Action - Expired links can be deactivated or deleted depending on the selected action.
  • Deactivated URL - If set, inactive visitors may be redirected there instead.

Check the Licence

If Pro features are required for the link's behavior, make sure the licence is active and authorised for this site.

Go to GoshLinks > Settings > Licence and check the licence status.

Check Default Pages

If the link is inactive, missing, or expired, GoshLinks may send visitors to a fallback page instead of the Target URL.

Check GoshLinks > Settings > Default Pages.

  • The link is active.
