Customising Your QR Codes

GoshLinks can create QR codes for your short links. Each QR code points to the GoshLinks short URL, not the target URL, so you can update the destination later without reprinting the QR code.

GoshLinks can create QR codes for your short links. Each QR code points to the GoshLinks short URL, not the target URL, so you can update the destination later without reprinting the QR code.

Basic PNG QR code generation is available in GoshLinks. QR branding, SVG downloads, bulk QR tools, and per-link QR customisation are Pro features.

Choose When QR Codes Are Created

Go to GoshLinks > Settings > Setup and open the QR Codes settings.

You can choose:

  • Do not create QR codes - QR code tools are hidden and new QR codes are not generated.
  • Choose whether to create QR codes per link - Adds a QR code checkbox to the Add/Edit Link page.
  • Always create a QR code for every link - Automatically creates a QR code when each link is saved.

If you choose the per-link option, you can also decide whether new links should create QR codes by default.

Set the Default QR Code Design

Pro users can customise the default QR code design from GoshLinks > Settings > Defaults.

In Default QR Code Branding, you can choose:

  • QR code colour.
  • Logo image.
  • Logo size.
  • Logo background shape.

Click a colour dot once to select it. Click the selected dot again to edit the colour. Use Update inside the colour picker, then click Save Settings at the bottom of the page to save the selected colour as the default.

Use a simple square logo for best scan reliability. PNG logos with a transparent background usually work well.

Allow Custom QR Codes Per Link

Pro users can also allow custom QR codes on individual links.

Go to GoshLinks > Settings > Setup. If QR codes are set to Choose whether to create QR codes per link or Always create a QR code for every link, turn on Allow custom QR codes per link.

You can then choose which options are available on individual links:

  • Change logo.
  • Change logo size.
  • Change logo background.
  • Pick QR code colour from the default colour palette.

These options can be enabled independently, so your admin can allow only the QR customisation controls that make sense for your site.

Customise a QR Code on One Link

Open GoshLinks > Add New or edit an existing link.

If QR codes are enabled, you will see the QR Code options below the Advanced Options accordion.

  1. Tick Create QR code for this link if the checkbox is shown.
  2. Tick Customise QR code.
  3. Use the Custom QR Code Branding panel to adjust the options allowed by the Setup settings.
  4. Save the link.

On the Add New page, the QR preview uses a sample QR code that points to your site home page. After the link is saved, the actual QR code points to the saved short URL.

View or Download a QR Code

On the All Links page, click the QR icon in the Actions column to open the QR code in a popover.

From there you can download the QR code as a PNG. Pro users can also download SVG when available.

If a link has no QR code yet, the popover lets you generate one.

Bulk QR Code Tools

Pro users can manage QR codes in batches from GoshLinks > Bulk Editing.

The QR Codes action can:

  • Add QR codes.
  • Remove QR codes.
  • Regenerate QR codes.
  • Download QR codes as PNG, SVG, or PNG + SVG.

You can run these actions for selected links, filtered links, or all links.

QR Scan Stats

GoshLinks tracks QR scans separately from normal short-link clicks.

On a link's Stats page, use the activity selector to view:

  • All activity - Link clicks and QR scans together.
  • Link clicks - Normal short-link visits only.
  • QR scans - Visits from scanned GoshLinks QR codes only.

The Views column on the All Links page shows the combined total.

Tips

  • Always test branded QR codes before printing or sharing them widely.
  • Use darker QR colours for better scan reliability.
  • Keep the logo size conservative.
  • Regenerate QR codes after changing default branding if you want existing codes to use the new design.
  • QR codes point to the short URL, so changing the target URL does not break printed QR codes.
