Updating GoshLinks Safely

Update GoshLinks while reducing the risk of disruption to existing links and settings.

Updating GoshLinks Safely

Keeping GoshLinks updated gives you the latest fixes, features, and compatibility improvements.

Before Updating

  • Run a normal WordPress/site backup.
  • If using Pro, run a GoshLinks export from Settings > Export.
  • Check that you have access to your licence key.

Update Core and Pro Together

If you use GoshLinks Pro, keep the core and Pro plugins updated together.

Pro is an add-on that depends on the core plugin, so old Pro code with a newer core plugin, or old core code with newer Pro code, can cause missing feature behavior or errors.

After Updating

  • Visit GoshLinks > All Links and confirm your links appear.
  • Test a short link.
  • If using Pro, check that Pro features are still available.
  • If short links do not work, refresh WordPress permalinks.

If Something Goes Wrong

Check the WordPress error message or debug log. If there is a critical error, temporarily disable the affected plugin and contact support with the error details.

Tip

For busy production sites, update during a quiet traffic period and test a short link immediately after the update.
