Installing GoshLinks Free

GoshLinks Free is the core WordPress plugin. It provides the main short-link features and is required even if you also use GoshLinks Pro.

Before You Start

You need administrator access to your WordPress site.

Step 1: Install the Plugin

1. Log in to WordPress admin.
2. Go to Plugins > Add New.
3. Upload or install the GoshLinks plugin.
4. Click Activate.

Step 2: Confirm the Menu Appears

After activation, a GoshLinks menu appears in the WordPress admin sidebar.

The main areas are:

• All Links
• Add New
• Settings

Step 3: Check Settings

Go to GoshLinks > Settings and review the default settings.

At minimum, check:

• Base Path
• Default Redirect Type
• Tracking
• Default Pages

Step 4: Create a Test Link

Create a test short link from GoshLinks > Add New, then open the generated Short URL in a browser to confirm redirects work.

Activation Notes

When GoshLinks activates, it creates the required database tables, creates default settings, installs default help content, repairs any direct click rows if needed, and refreshes WordPress rewrite rules.
