Importing Click Data

Import click history for links and understand how click rows are matched during import.

Importing Click Data

Click data can be imported from GoshLinks exports and supported YOURLS exports.

What Click Data Is

Click data is the recorded visit history used for totals and stats. It can include timestamps, referrers, and country codes when available.

When To Import Click Data

Import click data when you want to keep historical stats after a migration or restore.

You may not need click data if:

  • You only care about recreating the links.
  • You want a fresh stats history on the new site.
  • The click log is very large and you want a smaller import.

GoshLinks Import

When a GoshLinks export file contains click data, the review screen lets you choose whether to import that section.

After import, GoshLinks rebuilds click totals automatically so link counts stay accurate.

YOURLS Import

For YOURLS imports, click data comes from the YOURLS log table or from a YOURLS exporter JSON file that includes clicks.

Large YOURLS log imports run in batches to reduce timeout risk.

Overwriting Existing Links

When overwriting existing links, GoshLinks can also replace click data for those overwritten links if that option is selected.

Tip

Run a GoshLinks export before importing click data, especially if you are replacing existing links or stats.
